Itchy Skin - Possible Solutions?

Just looking for some advice re pups skin - he seems quite itchy and scratchy, not a massive issue but I feel more than just normal irritation. He always has been, but was hoping a food change would help - not sure it is, or maybe we haven't given it long enough?

He currently has an area just above his tail which is a little bumpy to touch (not weepy) but hard to see the extent as he mats all the hairs down through chewing it. He had another small area on his back which cleared up on it's own, however I should add that we've recently transitioned fully onto a hypoallergenic dry food (changing from the breeder recommended dry which turned out to be not the best quality and grain based. 2 full weeks on new food so far.

Any thoughts on supplements or topical treatments?

He's a 6 month male rottie.

Thanks very much

He can have some piriton.

Google the dosage to weight guide and hopefully that would help.

I had a Jack Russell who had to have half a piriton every day

Has he seen a vet? What did they recommend?

but hard to see the extent as he mats all the hairs down through chewing it. Is he a long haired Rottie?
