Collecting our newest addition in 2 weeks time!!!

Excited is an understatement, we are finally collecting our boy labrador early March.

Any lab owners want to prepare me for what's to come? 😂

I've posted a few comments here on what I learnt from our lovely black lab. Would really recommend getting, reading and watching lots of the advice from Lez Graham on her Pet Gun Dog site. I don't know if we were really lucky with our breeders (they train working dogs) as the crate training and loo training was ridiculously quick to establish when he arrived with us but consistency and lots and lots and lots of naps seemed to really help. Busy, sniffy working games, Kongs, ", find it" for his kibble meals really tired him out. Very first night was heartbreaking hearing him cry and whimper but we settled him gently each time in his closed crate and slept downstairs near him for first few nights but other than us carrying him out for regular wee breaks he slept through from the second night. Puppy blues are real. You will feel knackered. You may even feel regret but 100% worth it for the big Labrador sighs, the laughs, the warm rush of love and the endless affection. The very hardest thing for me, and still is, is the two steps forward, three steps back on loose lead walking but I've learnt to be more patient with it, I think! Good luck and hope you have a lovely fun few days. Oh and take photos of pup next to something static on a monthly basis so you can see the growth!

@Mrsbmama cute! Buddy was on our list but a friend has a dog with that name so we were doing the borderline awkward conversation if we used 'their name'. After much dicking about deliberation with the kids we've gone for Stanley. Kids aren't keen but husband and I are pulling rank because we figure by the time pup is middle aged the kids will be off doing their own thing in their spare time so we might as well go for a name we want.

Went to visit our pup yesterday for the last time before picking up in 2 weeks....he is absolutely amazing! Any doubts have gone out the window currently and I can't wait for him to be part our family.

How exciting!!! I had snuggles with a red kelpie pup a couple of days ago and thought of you (with a little bit of envy) while I was being very enthusiastically kissed on the ear. She was such a dear, gentle little thing who immediately put her face into my neck and went to sleep. Adooooooore! (The owner was very lucky to get her back, I tell you!)

@hashbrownsandwich awww I bet your countdown cannot come quick enough! Next week for me will be finishing puppyproofing the house, and garden whilst waiting for Sunday to rollaround 🤭🐾

OK so I'm about to share BUD and how much he has grown and Sunday cannot come quick enough 🤣

I've bought the final bits for our pup who we are getting this week. He's had his microchip and vaccination. It's all a bit real now!
