Can anyone recommend a decent leather, buckle collar for my mini schnauzer. I have looked at various sites online but slightly bamboozled by choice and price difference.

Mine are from here, and I love them. But it depends entirely what you’re looking for.

DDog has two Ancol Timberwolf collars and matching leads. I'm pretty pleased with them, v reasonable price (I think I paid around £10 for the collar, £10 for the lead or thereabouts) & have held up well despite being soaked / dunked in mud numerous times (spaniel!).

Petiquette collars are excellent .

Pear Tannery do some lovely ones, fancy colours or plain. We've a tweed one Smile

My dogs have all had Ancol rolled leather ones.

These are beautifully made. I’ve got the plaited tag collars - I use a harness to walk the mad lurcher.

DDog1 is a gun dog and has a handmade collar from Hicks and Hides - his has shotgun cartridges around it but she does sell plain ones as well. It wasn't cheap, but looks as good as new 5 years on and will pay for itself by the time he dies with all the cheaper collars I haven't had to replace.

Coincidentally, DH has a belt from there as well which is around 10 years old and still looks great.

Another recommendation for Pear Tannery. Got a slim, soft one as dog’s first collar and a wider one with brass stars on it when she was a Big Girl. Has stood up to a lot of swimming, mud diving and rolling in unmentionables Grin

Ancol here too. It was the only one I could small enough, DDog has a very skinny neck!

bingohandjob · 19/02/2022 17:37

We've got one of these with the flat tag (the dangly one seemed to annoy him) and it's really good quality and has softened without stretching www.indigocollartags.com/Leather_Collars_With_Name_Tag.shtml#AtTheTop

Pricy but dogs and horses do fantastic quality leads and collars.

GuyFawkesDay · 21/02/2022 21:57

Ours is from Pear Tannery.

Really good quality, British made and reasonable price. Would highly recommend
