10 month old male going crazy at local bitch in heat

Our 10mnth old male (intact) is really suffering at the moment with a bitch in heat on our street. We obviously avoid taking him out when he can see they are out with her, but the smell she leaves on the street is driving him crazy. We can't keep him in, we only have a small courtyard type garden so he gets 4 walks a day.

The vet have advised holding off neutering him for the moment due to an undescended testicle, but he just whines all day once he's got the scent.

Any advice on what we can do for him? The vet has advised walking different areas with different smells, which we have been doing, but still need to go along our street on the way out and back home.

Four walks a day is a LOT! One or two. Drive away from the area to exercise him?

It’s tough. We’ve been there. Best I can say is it doesn’t last long, in our case about 3 days, presumably her most fertile.
I tried masking smells - candles etc, he was my first dog and I really had no idea how good his nose was 😂
Adaptil infuser/ collar may help, or some herbal calming tablets from the vet?
It only happened one time though, and mine was intact until he was 3 or so , and he was about 10 months when he had his whining episode.

@Wolfiefan yes 4 walks a day is a lot, we seem to have succeeded a bit too much with the old house training and DDog now refuses to toilet in the little garden Hmm

@WhiteXmas21 thank you! Glad to hear there may be light at the end of the whining tunnel. I have looked at the adaptil, have you personally found it works?

Nothing worked for us - we just to ride it out I'm afraid.

Apologies, missed this. Yes it made a difference to my boy at various different points in his youth . I went all in - collar, diffuser and tablets too at times ( rehoming 2nd dog).

Thanks for the advice folks, he seems to have settled back into himself again, thank god. I will most definitely try the adaptil if this happens again.
