Dog tomorrow (eek!) but I’m injured

DP and I have been trying to get a rescue dog, have had the house tour approval etc and we’re waiting for the right one to come along…

Just had a call saying there is a dog that might suit and could be here tomorrow (on a foster to possibly adopt basis)

Normally we would jump at the chance but…

I have at least two broken ribs and a broken shoulder at the moment so in a sling type arrangement and quite a bit of pain. DP would be around but I’m relying on him quite a lot at the moment

But she’s very cute and she needs love

She is very fluffy! I would spend the next few weeks getting her used to you touching and gently grooming her - because it looks as though that will be something you are doing a lot of.

Her face markings are really lovely

Another thing to be aware of with a street dog- she'll assume she needs to fend for herself, so will be quite independent minded for a while, and will eat anything left unattended.

As she's tall, 'unattended' may well mean anything on the kitchen table or work surface.

Yeah she seems ok being brushed - loves being stroked. She’s pooped, eaten, drank and had a little sleep so hopefully is settling in ok.

We’re trying to be calm and sit still and let her do her thing but in reality we’re following her around like goons!

@ABitBesottedWithMyDog - they are beautiful - she also has excellent ‘old man’ eyebrows!

OP, she is beautiful! From your last photos, she looks like she’s similar colouring to my Lurcher (lemon brindle with grey) but he doesn’t have the white patches. Similar goofy grin as well. Although obviously a completely different shape!

As others have said, she will need a week or two of total decompression without walks anyway. Pooped, eaten, drank and slept sounds like an excellent start.

Still going well! She seems happy and my boys are in love.

She’s found her spot in the kitchen, - by the door, in front of the fridge (not stupid!) and spent a bit of time looking out the front windows at her new patch!
