How much do you pay for dog grooming?

Liltots123 · 24/01/2022 13:48

My dog groomer has just put up her prices and I'm not sure if it is expensive or not. Obviously a job well done is worth every penny but quite a few people have commented saying how expensive it is.

I have a:
cockapoo - originally £45 but will now be £50
Border collie - originally £50 now £55 (I am questioning this one more...)

Just wondered what everyone else pays and if I am paying too much?

Border terrier , hand stripped for £35

Gingersay · 24/01/2022 20:29

Springer Spaniel - £20 that's a mini groom he never needs a full groom that's a full wash try and trim of his feathers, chest, feet and ears.

rubytubeytubes · 24/01/2022 20:32

£33 in the north (was £28 pre covid)

MrsGHarrison87 · 24/01/2022 20:35

£33 for a full groom for 6 month old dog.

Iheartmysmart · 24/01/2022 20:36

£40 for a full groom for my show cocker which apparently includes a blueberry facial!

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 24/01/2022 20:38

What does she do for the border that costs that much?

fitflopqueen · 24/01/2022 20:50

Springer spaniel - had bath & tidy - just undercarriage and feathers/paws trimmed - £30 2 weeks ago but the prices are now going up. Only goes a couple of times a year. This is northwest.

babycornfortea · 24/01/2022 21:10

@Iheartmysmart mine also gets a blueberry facial! Although costs me £55 for a full groom. She is a shih tzu though...

I won't tell you the last time I set foot in a hairdressers (actually I will, five years, FIVE YEARS AGO) yet am merrily doling out this amount every few months on the dog!!!

Iheartmysmart · 24/01/2022 21:13

@babycornfortea how funny - wonder if it’s the same place! I’ve often thought about booking myself in there for a bit of a pamper as he always smells lovely when I pick him up.

Kitkat151 · 24/01/2022 21:16

£30 jack Russell in NW

EcoCustard · 24/01/2022 21:21

I have two working cocker. Spaniels. They are £40 each for a full clip, wash, nails and all over pamper. The great thing is she also has both dogs at the same time, all others require me to drop, collect, come back for each dog. She takes them on route to school and I pick them up before school pickup sweet smelling and they are shattered as She plays with in the garden with them. Other groomers quoted £50+ for each dog and this was a couple of years ago. She is a gem and my dogs love her, no stress.

I am Shock at the cost of hand stripping. Just get a stripping comb for a fiver and save yourself a fortune. I used to do our terrier over two evenings, about 30-40 mins each time, trim her eyebrows, done.

Bebeschitt · 25/01/2022 13:30

Well. I am gob smacked. And pleased I have a short haired staff x. No blueberry face masks here although she did come home covered in her own mud mask last night.
Wet towel sorted that out.

SpringersLoveSofas · 26/01/2022 10:26

Big springer - wash, dry, trim, tidy and good brush/rake out the old fur = £45 in the midlands (where things tend to be a bit cheaper than some other places).

Sweetleftfood · 26/01/2022 10:39

Wow, we are in London so prices are higher and also wired hair terrier so needs to be stripped but we paid £70 last time and we are not in a particularly affluent area at all

BestIsWest · 26/01/2022 10:43

Miniture Schnauzer £30. Wales. Groomer is excellent too. Fully expect prices to go up this year.

BestIsWest · 26/01/2022 10:45

It’s worth it for the nail clipping alone! But they look and smell amazing afterwards.

FlipFlops4Me · 27/01/2022 12:17

I have two SHih-Tzu. I pay £70 for the two every six weeks.

I keep expecting it to go up but it hasn't so far.

girlmom21 · 27/01/2022 12:23

I have a Pomeranian (long haired very fluffy) in the Midlands and we pay £53 every 6-8 weeks.

Do your dogs (especially the collie) actually need a full groom?

Definitelyrandom · 29/01/2022 10:52

Astonished at the prices - another reason to have a greyhound. No grooming needed. We do cut his nails, though.
