Hi my 9 month old pup has always had a dodgy stomach . Runs . Vets always given me paste which after a day or two stops it . The last 3 days he has had the runs again but this time with bits of blood in it and also when he's straining there's nothing coming out but tiny drops of blood . The vets said last time it happens again they will test him for giardia . So I went to pets and home last night and bought him pancur to treat that . He's still him self eating and drinking so I know it's not an emergency this weekend but I will be there 1st thing tomorrow morning . I have took a photo this morning of what he's looking and blood looks like and I'm just wondering what can this be please ?

I am not a vet and it is good you are taking puppy to the vet tomorrow.it does look a bit like a Giardia pooh.I would bring some pooh to the vet.with Giardia, the vet usually have the pooh tested for it.It saves you another trip.

Loose poo in dogs with blood and straining could be a million things.

Only a vet can help you and they will need to test for giardia. One does of pancur is unlikely to cure a dog of giardia. I would not give any more until you have seen the vet as it may affect the tests they do to check for it. The usual pancur dose is different for treating giardia to normal worming.

Chronic loose poos are hard work to diagnose but your vet is the person who needs to work through the he checklist of options.

Hope you find the cause soon.

Is the dog on wet or dry food?

Hi everyone I couldn't wait until tomorrow so came back from the emergency vet an hour ago he has colitis 😥

I was going to suggest colitis. Bland diet for a while, I always do tiny meals of sweet potato - my basset suffered terribly and this worked well for him.

If you got pro-konlin from your vet, it's much cheaper on Amazon.
