Taking dog on holiday

For anyone who does this - do you take the dog with you every day on trips and outings? Or would you risk leaving them in the rental?

We take him everywhere with us - we either eat at dog-friendly pubs for meals or we get takeaway delivered to the cottage.

He's always good as gold on holiday - better than he is at home actually! We always book privately via the owner and make sure they're happy for us to have him on the sofas and the bed as that's what he's used to at home - we've never been told no.

Generally the rules around dogs on furniture/dogs being left are blanket rules by the holiday companies - if you can book direct, IME most owners are quite happy for dogs to be left (crated only) and allowed up on the furnishings as long as you use blankets.

We take ours out with us on holiday, we pick somewhere dog friendly and find dog friendly restaurants etc. Holiday cottages usually say you can’t leave your dog alone anyway.
If we want a dog free holiday Ddog stays with his Auntie E but if he comes on holiday with us then he’s with us all the time

@JayAlfredPrufrock

Please don’t tell me how to look after my dog.
Or not look after him

We take him with us everywhere, unless we want to have a quick meal out (he is reactive towards strangers, so not a pub-friendly type dog). When we eat out, we live him in the accommodation in his pen, with a pet cam to keep an eye on him. He couldn't care less and just sleeps.

We didn't realise this isn't allowed by most AirBnB owners until recently, when a few people on here mentioned it. Whoops...
