He will be here this evening, and I can not remember what the first night is like with a puppy 😂. I don't have a crate, I've ordered one, in case I feel it's needed, to be arriving on Monday.
I'll be sleeping with pup downstairs.
Right now I can barely contain my excitement. It's real now, not just planning. Will post pics when I finally have him home. His name is Luxe, he's a black gsd. I will post pics when he gets here, promise.
But for now, stories please of you first few days

On the first night dd slept on the floor with our pup snuggled up together. It was adorable. She's always been a good night sleeper thankfully

Aww congratulations!
Our dpup was used to a crate and put herself to bed on the first night. I slept right next to her on the sofa. Took her out if she got shuffly or cried. Did this for the first two weeks until the night wakings were a bit more consistent time wise then moved the crate up right next to our bed. She sleeps really well and pretty much through the night. On the odd occasion she wakes up early after she’s been out she gets bed cuddles and they are the best Grin

Well he had a pretty decent first evening, just one accident in the house, and slept fine, waking just once. Dcat seems to be just watching, they've had a staring contest, but no interaction. Trying to find a moment for a shower, he whimpers whenever I leave the room

It's just lovely having a puppy in the house again

Thankfully we brought ours home to an older dog, and he took over cuddle duty at night! It was a hard slog to get to 4/5 months when she was reliably dry at night but she was so good during the day. I look at photos of her now and think that her puppy days went by in a heartbeat though it really didn't feel like it at the time! We never used a crate, but they can be useful at times.

Enjoy every moment.
