Retraining older dog to pee outside

I have a nearly 13Yr old terrier & a 10 mth old labrador. Pup is fine with toileting etc, but older dog is fine all day, but then after dinner is in and out of the back garden, when he either digs at a rat hole, plays with the pup or pees.

He can be outside for ages but then comes in and as soon as our backs are turned he pees on the floor. He's recently had all the tests in the book and has comeback all clear.

Is he just a bit senile & we just have to put up with it?

Go outside with him and supervise him like you would a puppy - you could even go back to putting him on a lead and make sure he goes and doesn't mess about.

Another option is to do a quick walk around the block so his focus is on weeing and he can't get distracted Smile

We do! He's literally just come back in after 10 mins outside when he did a wee. My son went into the dining room and he'd already done 2 pees and a crap!

Ah in that case it could well just be old age and a bit of dementia.

Definitely worth a trip to the vets as there are medications that can help Smile

If he is doing it when he comes back in.

Let him in.

Pop him on the lead and immediately (or if you think 5 mins may be better) take him outside again and reward when he wees & poos outside.

When did he start this? Is it very recently? Also clean the areas indoors with enzymatic cleaner.

I would also give him the opportunity to be outside without the puppy to allow him to pee in peace. Smile
