Dog with upset tummy

LaLaFlottes · 28/12/2021 08:25

Hello - our dog is 11.5 and she has had an upset tummy on and off for about 5 days, since having the second dose of her vaccinations.
It happened with the first dose too, but we didn’t realise it was that as she’s not had an issue before but it’s probably too coincidental not to be that now that it’s happened again.

I give her plain chicken and her appetite comes back and she seems fine but then when I give her dog food again her tummy is upset again. Should I stick to bland food for longer? Maybe a few days?

If I give her chicken and rice she only picks out the chicken and then is still hungry - any suggestions on what else she can have please?
Thank you!

Have you tried Pro Kolin Advanced, OP? It works wonders with my boy if he's had something that's upset his tum.

Not a long term solution and vet would explore more but we use it for sort of quick fix. Great stuff.

Can get it from vets and also Pets At Home online, other pet shops, etc.

I do prokonlin advance and feed 3 small meals of sweet potato a day. Usually sort out within 24 hours.

When you cook the chicken & rice, do you cook the rice in the chicken water? This seemed to encourage mine to actually eat the rice when was unwell.

Sweet potato instead of rice. Boiled fish and a plain scrambled egg also good. Chicken can upset tummies too, so avoid if it might be making things worse.

Thank you so much everyone - I will try some sweet potato today and fish - I have loads of eggs to use up so will definitely scramble one for her too!

I’ve managed to order the prokolin on Amazon to be delivered today too.

Hopefully we can get her back on track!
I will also try that with the rice in the chicken water.

Thanks so much - hate seeing her unwell x

Scrambled eggs always works well for my dog. He will eat it when he's refusing everything else. I think it helps bind up their runny poo too.

My 10 year cocker spaniel has had digestive issues all year, which come and go. I will definitely try the pro-kolin. She does seem to enjoy scrambled egg and sweet potato.
