Meningitis

Our lovely girl (1 year old boxer) has been diagnosed with meningitis. Spent today driving 3 hours there and 3 back to vet school, where she's had a lumbar puncture. So worried for her. She'll be in a few days, but fingers crossed she responds to steroids, and thank god for insurance (and lovely family members who picked up our tesco order!)

I'm sure she will be fine - beagles are prone to it, I've had friends dogs who have had it and been really poorly, but once they start on the steroids they pick up very quickly. Wishing your lovely girl a speedy recovery.

My first beagle had it, recovered very rapidly with steroids, and was 100% fine for the rest of her life. It's terrifying, I know, but if it's SRM then it's very very treatable.

She's home. Vet said they were v pleased with how she was responding to treatment, but she still seems so ill. She's dot diarrhea, and either ots bloody or her bum is. She's mostly slept since we picked her up. Has eaten some of yesterday's left over turkey. I can't get over how much weight she's lost in the last 2 days.
