Can anyone recommend a medium/large dog bed for a middle aged dog who is developing some arthritis please?
I've read the article but just need some experienced advice.

am thinking memory foam might be good and higher sides so dog can rest his jaw on them

Thank you!

Our DDog with hip and elbow dysphasia has one similar to this raised dog bed.

It’s meant to help with joints and she absolutely loves it. We got hers off Amazon and also got a reversible topper for summer/ winter.

These are the beds that they sell on the Canine Arthritis Management website.

It really depends on budget though. My old boy has a this memory foam bed from Amazon, which is essentially a mattress bed but with the edges raised slightly. He’s a Lurcher though and they do like to be able to stretch out (as well as folding up small when they need to squoosh in on the sofa). We take it to pieces (it has three sections) regularly to give it time for the memory foam to reshape and fluff up. The cover is easy to wash and we have dried it in the tumble drier with no problems. He loves it, it has probably been his favourite bed in the last 16 years.

If I had more money, I would probably go for something with a sprung base and memory foam top, as, coming from a family with osteo issues running through it from children to pensioners, we’ve found that gives the best support and most comfortable night’s sleep. I would love to buy an Orvis bed if money was no object.

I should probably add that the bed my dog has is memory foam crumb, rather than slab. We had a slab one originally, but he really didn’t like it and it seemed to flatten really quickly.
