This is Rosie who I feel so proud of today.

She is a rescue pup from abroad who has been with us for 9 weeks now. She’s now 6 months old. She arrived a bag of nerves and has grown in confidence hugely over that period, learning that people are nice ( still nervous of men in dark clothing) and the world is good.

Still a work in progress - very nervous of traffic still and our 2 cats are proving tempting to play with but training is going ok and she’s learning bless her. She’s a bright gal who has sussed that blooming door handles open doors 🙈

I’ve struggled to bond with her after loosing the best dog in the world our Ben who we lost in January to liver cancer. I miss him every bloody day - he’s left very big boots to fill and it’s hard to not compare. But it’s good having a dog again and I’m hoping she becomes the beautiful companion that he did. Finally I’m feeling a bond with her and she’s sweet and funny. Just wanted to share her. And yes it’s blooming hard work!!

Hi Rosie you gorgeous girl 🐾😍

unidentia · 13/12/2021 08:20

She's beautiful. Look at that face.

All your patience and what feels like slow progress will reap rewards in subsequent years.

stalkersaga · 13/12/2021 08:32

On top of her natural talents by way of looks, she is beautifully healthy and glossy, which is a tribute to you.

dustofneptune · 13/12/2021 16:57

OMG she's so gorgeous! Agh, I love her face!

I'm so sorry for your loss of Ben, also. Of course you'll compare! It's totally natural. Rosie's little personality will shine through.

It took me a good few months to fall in love with my adopted dog, and now I'm absolutely obsessed with him (9 months in).

The last dog I loved felt more like a "best mate", and my current dog feels more like a child (brings out the more nurturing side of me). It's a totally different dynamic, but the strength of love is the same.

Rosie is going to teach you a lot, and you're going to heal together!

I know how you feel OPs. We got our beautiful pup a scant three months after loosing out beautiful staffie to heart failure. It was too ear!y for me,but dds partner really needs a dog to ensure her mental health.

The puppy is a lovely girl, but it's taken me a good year to actually love her. now, she's the centre of my life.

She goes for a walk, she comes to me to take off her harness. If anyone else tried to do that, she thinks it's a game of chase. With me, she seems to know I can't chase, so she comes to me, sits and let's me take her harness off.

She's the same with treats, she seems to know she gets one a day, after she's eaten. She sits, good as gold, rest her little head on my calf, and waits until can reach her treats.

She's a very bright girl. I only had to tell her once that she had to wait to come up or down stairs when I was on my chair lift. Now she does it every time I'm on it.

But then, she's Jack Russell, so very bright, but also very noisy.

Give it time opening poster. Dogs have a way of getting into your heart, if you want the there or not
