Our DDog is a rescue estimated when we got him 2.5 years ago to be about 3 so still not in his dotage.
Always had a cute hearing until about 3 months ago when we noticed he was no longer aware of the car or family members returning home, no longer hearing us get up in the mornings and waiting impatiently at the bottom of the stairs. In fact one has to stand over him and speak loudly before he is aware of our presence.
Had his regular check up recently and Vet checked his ears had nothing physically wrong with them and said there was nothing to be done.
He’s a smallish corgi sized mixed breed, very affectionate and eager to please and fixated on his next meal/ treat.
Can anyone who has experience with a dog with hearing problems give us advice about how the handle the situation. I’m anticipating that the deafness will get worse. He startles more easily now if there is a sudden very loud noise.
It is definitely not feigned, by the way.
