Olde English Bulldog

I absolutely love bulldogs however I have never got one as I didn't want to contribute to the breeding of unhealthy pups and was concerned about all the health issues.

I have come recently across the above breed I have never heard about before. A quick Google search says it is best of both worlds ie you get all qualities of bulldog with no health issues.

It sounds too good to be true but I thought I check here as well.

Is this breed recognised by the Kennel Club? I cannot see it on their website anywhere.

This makes me suspicious of anyone in the UK claiming to be breeding them. They could be anything!

You can also look into the Leavitt Bulldog... no KC as far as I know and not many around, but apparently true to type without all the beauty pageant breeding that is required by show lines. (= health issues).

There is also a rescue in the UK just for Bulldogs (called Bulldog Rescue). We got our bullie there about 6 years ago. They have dogs being fostered all over the country so there will be some near you.

Apparently it is recognised by the KC but indeed not much info can be found.

Hi OP these dogs still have orthopaedic, skin and breathing issues because of their conformation. I treat a few of them. They are by no means a healthy breed.

The UKC is not the Kennel Club in the UK, it is an American club and not the official American Kennel Club.
