Feed them separately and give treats separately.

I don't know anything about chihuahua's, but the other problem we had with pugs was around food.

Spend lots of time with each dog separately. Don't let the young one bother the old one or rely on the older to tell the new one off. Don't let them constantly play together either

I have a 4 year old boy and a 1 year old boy. We got the youngest last October.

I had a nightmare with them and had to keep them separate. I wasn't able to introduce them on neutral group due to the older one being unwell. So had to introduce them at home, I don't know how much that contributed to the stress of it but it was really hard work.

I had a thread at the time as I felt like I had made an awful mistake. It took about 4 months or more for them to be friendly and probably the best part of the year for things to be good between them.

All dogs are different of course but do your research on the best way to introduce the new one.

I've heard 2 boys are a bad idea which is why we chose a girl this time.Hopefully it'll be ok.

Really interested in how this went? I have been thinking of getting a second chi to keep my first one company. I am completely torn as to whether it will really improve her quality of life, or will ruin the routine and peaceful life she has now! She seems happy enough now, I just worry that she might be happier with a play mate.
