Tinned fish?

Fairly new dog owner here .
He is currently on Arden Grange morning and evening which he enjoys and wolfs down. It has been suggested that he would enjoy tinned mackerel or pilchards mixed in with it. How many times per week should I give him this please?
And any other suggestions for what I could add from time to time to make his food a bit more interesting for him?
@cherrypiepie no I don't have the measuring cup. I just weigh it which is a pain. Where do I get the cup from?
Said pooch is fast asleep on the settee after trying to pull the curtains down and stealing some prawn crackers which I thought I had left out of reach on the kitchen bench. How naive am I ?!
I weigh mine out for several days into plastic tubs

Thank you all so much. I feel much better informed now.

I give mine the odd extra bit here and there to liven up meals i.e. drained tin of tuna, the odd bit of smoked salmon when it's on offer, lamb / chicken or turkey when I'm making something in the slow cooker (just ladle it out and pour it over the food)

Sometimes I just give them scrambled egg with a bit of brown rice or potato and they love the odd bit of raw apple, carrot, melon, banana and broccoli.

I add about 1.5 ml of cod liver oil once a week to food just as routine to keep their joints, coat and whatnot in good nick. They're both border collies so very active, high energy and outdoor dogs that benefit from an extra bit of help keeping things ticking over.

When you visit the vet they will weigh them.

Our greyhound has a tin of sardines in tomato sauce every day for breakfast with her kibble

he is a rescue so I have had to estimate weight.
Pet shops often have free to use scales, Pets Corner for example.

My Springer has Fishy Friday every week where she gets tinned sardines for breakfast. I don't know if it's connected but her coat is gorgeous and seems to almost self clean after a walk.
She also often has scrambled eggs on Sunday too, but that's just because she's spoilt Grin

Carrot, sweet potato, natural yogurt, sardines, rabbit ears, sprats, eggs are all stuff we supplement with.

You don't need a special cup - just weigh out the daily ration, pour it into an old container (plastic cup, soup pot, tupperware etc) and mark with a permanent pen where it comes to. Ta-dah - your measuring cup.
