Covid isolating away from pup

Hi
So I have covid, found out yesterday. Feel like shite. I am isolating away from the family and the dog. I’m devastated about not being able to hug the kids, but I’m also worried about the dog. She is hyper attached to me, is she going to think I have just disappeared for 10days? I have been told that while everyone else is at school/work I can go into the lounge to be with her, but will he having me for small snippets of time be more detrimental? She will howl when I leave the room at the best of times 😟
Thanks

Who has told you what you can do in your own house?

I have literally never heard of anyone isolating from their pets.

I don't think many people isolate from their families and pets within the same house. I wouldn't do it and it wouldn't be practical here, so I would say just don't do it.

You don’t have to isolate from your dog Confused

WeAllHaveWings · 04/11/2021 09:21

She will know you are in the house even if she can't see you so I don't think small snippets will be more detrimental.

Are you isolating in your bedroom? Can she come in to see you when she wants to?

PollyRoullson · 04/11/2021 09:33

Do whatever works for you and your family. Your dog will not hold this against you in any way what so ever if you do choose not to be with her for 10 days.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

It’s not that I have been told I have to isolate from the dog! But that I have to isolate from the family. I’m not in UK. I have a bedroom and a bathroom and the kids and DH are sharing the other bathroom. I have been advised to stay isolated for 10 days but if everyone else is out of the house I can go downstairs to the lounge and be with the dog down there (she’s strictly a downstairs dog)

I understand the way you are isolating, I think the rules/recommendations here are the same.

Can you make sure that the rest of the family are maintaining her normal routine in terms of feeding and toilet breaks extra and use the time during the middle of the day to take her out for a walk (if you can in an isolated way) or do some training in the garden.

Hopefully it will be good training for her for to prevent separation anxiety

I think the rest of the family will carry on as normal with her and DH is wfh this week, but I’m the only one who really does any training with her. I’m too ill today to get up and run around the garden with her but hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able to do that. Feel so sad for her!
