Rescue dog sleeps on hard floor

We've had him for 2 1/2 years now. When we first got him he did not know what a bed was wouldn't sleep on the (lovely) beds I'd bought, he'd only lie on the tiled floor. So I got some carpet off cuts and eventually put a thin pad over. And now he will lie on that in our hallway. But at night he goes to his (luxurious) bed on the landing then, within 5 mins of me going to bed, he's lying on the hard floor outside my room. So I tried moving his bed to that spot but he still lies next to it. Once the lights are out he sneaks into my bedroom and lies on the carpet - so, again, I moved the bed into my room but he still prefers the carpet. What is going on??

Had my large fluffy dog from a pup. We have bought him an enormous bed with memory foam mattress. Had to practically get a 2nd mortgage to pay for it.
He still sleeps on a hard wooden floor - apart from his brief forays onto the sofa if he is extra wet and muddy and needs to dry off for 10mins. My small rescue on the other hand has moved into his bed (occupying the top right hand corner), spurning her smaller version - presumably because it is NOT memory foam.

I am so glad to hear this
Our brand new Romanian rescue pup is disdaining the 2 fluffy beds and 1 crate mat we bought him and lying on the floor
He won't go on the beds at all
We have no idea the breed but he is quite fluffy a bit like a rough collie or even old English sheepdog so maybe it is too hot for him
He also refused an invite onto the sofa
He lay a bit awkwardly there for a few minutes, got down and lay back on the floor.
He even appears to prefer the hard flooring to the carpeted areas.
We thought he might get used to it but maybe he never will.

My dogs sleep on a hard floor. They will go on sofa but prefer a cold hard floor. It's not an issue it obviously what my dogs prefer.

@Netaporter

I’ve got a Leonberger. I bought all of the gear when he was a puppy - giant specialist crate from the states, huge bed, the lot. He never used any of it. Just the cold tiled floor in the porch… 😂
This, 100%!

Actually, she likes her crate, takes herself off there whenever she wants peace and quiet.

But the beds I’ve bought for the living room? Not a chance. She’d much rather spread out and snooze on the cool wooden or tiled flooring.
