Barking all of a sudden

Pup (7months) has started barking at bedtime. We think she was disturbed by wind outside one night but it's been going on for a few days now. She goes into the hall and barks at the front door.

She will settle eventually.

Any ideas why she's started doing this?

I would be interested to hear any tips on this too... our seven month old pup has started doing the same thing. One of us has to go down and sit next to her crate until she calms, just like we did when she was tiny. She's then fine for the rest of the night.

She's become a bit more barky in general too, along with increased chewing.

I've a feeling it's an adolescent thing, and we could be in for a few months of it.

Same thing here I think it's adolescence too. Mine also seems to be going through a fear stage too - scared of shadows so barks at them!

7 month old here doing the same thing! I think ours hears people out the front (she's in the back of the house mostly). Sometimes I take her out the front on the lead so she can see all is okay and other times sit with her and leave the radio on when I have to leave her. I think the radio drowns out distant noises and seems to
calm her. Or just distract with a toy/activity. Think they become a bit more fearful and uncertain at this age so reassurance and distraction is what we are trying. Also trying to stop her doing it as soon as possible so it doesn't become ingrained. Barking can feel good to dogs I believe so giving her something better - attention/toy etc will
hopefully help.

She's been better the past two nights. I think it was fireworks and the wind annoying her. Fingers crossed!
