Fireworks!

Our pup has been gently and increasingly exposed to lots of noises, traffic, HGV, bus air brakes etc, bangs and clattering from the kitchen, shouting children and people on the street etc since the day we had him and other than the deep vibrations of motorbikes that he hates he's very tolerant and so far takes them all in his stride but feeling a little twitchy about Bonfire Night. We're in a city, fireworks can start a good week beforehand. We've got good soundproofing from double glazing, he's got the den of his crate to retreat to and we plan to have plenty of high value treats on hand and lickimat for chewing/licking self soothing. Anything else you'd recommend? Do those scent diffusers do anything? Thank you in advance.

Urgh it's such a stress isn't it. Poor little thing.
You could try desensitising to the noise by playing sounds on quiet on a speaker whilst shovelling chicken/ ham / sausages (whatever works) into his mouth and then you can make it progressively louder.
I read somewhere else about just packing them off the in the car and driving up the motorway for a couple of hours on fireworks night as well!

We just put a music channel on the TV and go about our usual business!! Tbh one of ours sits at the back door and watches! Brings no stress to any of ours strangely... Our oldest ddog( now gone) wasn't bothered and they just seems to follow suit...

I read the other day there is a YouTube track called taiko drums which is 10 hours long. And it covers up the noise of fireworks. It was actually recommended to play it on two devices with a starting gap to make sure no quiet bits at all. Worth a try maybe
