Could I have a vets opinion please?

My 12 week puppy occasionally seems to be running on lead then when transitioning back to a walk sometimes does what looks like a tiny kick out of one back leg..?

This doesn’t happen all the time and I’m unsure if it even is what I think I’m seeing as he moves so fast, he is a puppy so does randomly go from walking to running and bounce around.

Being a small breed, I’m a bit worried about patella Luxation...

If I was to take him to the vet would they be able to diagnose patella luxation at such a young age?

I have been googling about luxation but they are talking about a skip for 2 or 3 steps which he doesn’t have or holding the foot up and yelping then recovering, I’m not sure

Not a vet...

Unless you can film it, I’d have it as... going to mention next time I’m at the vet anyway rather than taking him specially.

Is he long haired? My puppy occasionally does peculiar things with his legs, including kicking out, hobbling and looking like he's having some kind of fit, all because he has got something stuck in his fur and irritating him. It is usually a twig or a leaf, but just lately, with the damp we now have, I have found a slug stuck to him a few times. Just a thought, anyway.

Mine is an older dog and when she was about 7 I suddenly noticed she was doing a strange hop on one of her back legs. She would walk fine for a bit and then do three or four hops on a row and then seem fine again. I took a video and showed the breed group I'm in on fb and they said it was a luxating patella and for her to rest for a few days to see how it went. She didn't yelp or appear in pain apart from walking incredibly slowly. A week or so rest for her and she was fine and it hasn't occurred again.
She did tear her cruciate ligament a year or so later which thankfully just needed complete rest and some anti inflammatory medication and no op.
As yours is so young I would get it seen by a vet, just to make sure there is no underlying issue.
