Dog Coats

Hi all,

Just seen a thread thank tales about the owner needing a coat to walk the dog.

Reminded me I need a coat for the dog to go out in...I think!

Dog is a small breed. Loves going in puddles and rivers. Don't like the rain, has pooed in the house today as she didn't fancy going out Hmm

We take her on 2 daily walks then bigger walks at the weekend. Tends to be muddy and likely to be raining.

Any suggestions for a good dog coat? She has very short legs but doesn't mind getting them wet. Gets very fussy when her tummy gets wet, often as short, or it rains!

We also have a dog walker for our long days, she takes the dogs to the woods etc and if I'm working I can't stop her jumping on the now covered sofa.

Any suggestions gratefully received. Grin

Equafleece , they do a variety of jumpers , coats and suits allow excellent movement and wash well . They are also thin enough for a harness to be worn over the top.

Mucki mutz is the best!

More choice , lovely tartans and much more durable than Equafleece. Also they fit better as they are made to measure. Our dog loves mud, rivers and puddles. When we take the suit off she’s completely dry underneath and we just have to wash her paws down. Cannot recommend enough

Equafleece...they make them for our short-legged dog! DDog has a luminous one for night time walks, another for morning walks and one for wearing in the house!

What sort of coat is suitable for snowy cold weather not just wet?

Sheldock · 18/10/2021 20:36

We have a Hurtta suit for cold/snowy weather. They are a Finnish brand so know their stuff when it comes to cold weather clothing!

My dogs have both of these. They keep their chests & tummies dry as well.
Fleece lined

This one has a removable fleece so good for wet summers too

I had a hurtta dog coat for a very hairy and long dog with short legs. It was the only one that gave really good belly coverage for a very low slung dog. Much recommended. The elastic that fitted around the back legs went after a while (2ish years) and I think I sewed new elastic in about 4 times and made it last until she died (aged 14). I had tried other coats before and the hurtta one was best by far.
