Do I ring the vet? I managed to get a toffee out of ones mouth, appears to be just a couple missing (looks like toffee plus an orange wrapper - obviously they have no taste)
They’re chihuahuas so only little.

Call your vet for advice.

Can give you an idea but...

Wombat49 · 12/10/2021 13:01

Problem is that they are little.

Frymetothemoon · 12/10/2021 13:03

Chocolate can kill dogs. Vet! Now!

purplesequins · 12/10/2021 13:06

call your vet, but you might lucky as thr cocoa content of qs is very low.

Theunamedcat · 12/10/2021 13:06

Vet ASAP some dogs can be ok but many are not

Mymapuddlington · 12/10/2021 13:07

Rang the vets and they’ve said to look out for any concerning symptoms but they should be ok. So now I’m on high alert.

Picture of the main suspect.
I put them out of reach and have no idea how they got at them.

VET ASAP

Workinghardeveryday · 12/10/2021 13:23

My chi ate a chunk of milk chocolate on Xmas day! Rang vet etc. He was totally fine.

Toffee shouldn’t do anything than rot his teeth

Mymapuddlington · 12/10/2021 13:24

@Workinghardeveryday
Thank you, there’s 3 of them and I’m sure when I’m out they plan these things.

OP posts:
Workinghardeveryday · 12/10/2021 16:14

Yes they do😂. Sure they will be fine from amount they ate😊

daisyjgrey · 12/10/2021 21:55

My jack Russell ate a box of Lindt chocolates once and was, rather oddly, absolutely fine.

He does seem to be on the fairly hardy side though.

Heartofglass12345 · 12/10/2021 22:05

My mums dog ate loads of after eights once and threw them back up Envy hopefully your little one will be fine if it was just a couple

Mymapuddlington · 12/10/2021 22:06

Thank you, making me feel better! All three monsters are fine and up to their usual mischief so thankfully it looks like a lucky escape

You can look up chocolate toxicity online. You put in the type of chocolate, how much was eaten and the weight of the dog.

I've used it in the past, when a mid-sized dog got at plain chocolate. It told me to just keep an eye on her - and she was indeed fine.

Mymapuddlington · 13/10/2021 09:46

Thank you @Grumpyosaurus all three are doing well thankfully!

You can tell the one in the picture is the ringleader by his expression!!

boomchikawowwow · 13/10/2021 09:50

I have a Whippet with a very sweet tooth. He once at half a large Easter egg and was completely fine. He's terrible for bin raiding even to just get a chocolate wrapper out!!

Soubriquet · 13/10/2021 09:51

Dogs are buggers aren’t they? A friend of mine bought herself a lovely big dark chocolate Lindt egg and had it on the cupboard out of the way whilst she went into the kitchen. Little piggy managed to find her way up there to scoff the lot. She was fine (and vet checked).

I know my two chihuahuas would do the same if they could get to it

Mymapuddlington · 13/10/2021 09:51

He is the ringleader for sure, he’s a right little rascal and always looks suspicious! My girl is always near me and tends to be really good, it’s the boys who cause mayhem lol

Back in the 70s when i were a nipper and it was all fields around here, no one knew about chocolate being and for dogs and we children used to feed our two dogs the Quality Street no one liked when the grownups weren’t looking. They both snaffled it up and lived to ripe old ages.

Mymapuddlington · 13/10/2021 10:01

@Soubriquet soooo cute!!!

Soubriquet · 13/10/2021 10:06

Yours is very cute too. Can I see all 3?
