Our rescue dog came to live with us 2 months ago. She had been flea'd before we got her however I spotted a flea so treated her again after getting some advice.

The whole house has been treated, she's had frontline and a tablet. I've been flea combing her regularly and haven't found anything so thought we were in the clear however I've just seen a flea walking across her face!!

Her fur is so dense being a golden retriever so I'm struggling to find any fleas on her skin.

How on earth can I get rid of these bloody horrible things??

Maybe dogs are different but over the counter frontline was useless on our cats - we now have a prescription from the vet which works well (Bravecto).

Indorex spay the whole house, they are more likely to be in the carpets etc than on the dog now.

Second Indorex, saved my sanity.

3rd for Indorex - but make sure you work out how much you need - you will need more than one can for a whole house for sure. And if it was OTC Frontline, you need something better - ring your vet and ask them to prescribe something to collect - you will need a gap though before you can treat your dog again.

Indorex is the only thing that worked the one and only time in 30 years my dogs got fleas. (Added bonus is our house was also spider free for a whole year afterwards!)

Also second calling the vet for a decent treatment for your dog as well.

Indorex the whole house and then again in a couple of weeks . Bravecto for the dog,ask the vet for it,nothing else works for my cat,it was a nightmare.

Wolfiefan · 11/10/2021 17:40

Frontline is crap.
See vet for a treatment like Nexgard
Indorex the house.

dementedpixie · 11/10/2021 17:44

Stop using frontline and ask a vet for something better. Indorex your house

LoveFall · 11/10/2021 18:01

Bravecto has worked great for our dog. For both fleas and ticks, which we have here.

I got it for him after finding a tick.

I think you're panicking unnecessarily. The treatment on the dog sounds like it's working. There will still be the odd flea in the house that will hatch out, although by now they will be fewer and fewer. That is backed up by the fact that you do not find fleas when you comb. And when the odd one does hatch out and find its way onto the dog the insecticide will kill it before it has a chance to lay any more eggs. I really wouldn't bother with Indorex on the basis of having seen one flea.
