Diarrhoea in puppy

My 5 month old puppy has diarrhoea.

I think changed his food too quickly plus overdid the new treats’l

I was cleaning out his crate at 5am 😭😭😭

Do I need to do anything or will it sort itself out?

Continue with new food?
Starve him for a bit?
Feed him pasta?

Our 6 month old Labrador puppy was like this til the vet put him on a kibble for sensitive stomachs 3 weeks ago after his 3rd bout of diarrhoea in 3 weeks all involving a massive clean up of his crate and bedding and toys.

Every time he got diarrhoea or sloppy poos we'd put him on rice and chicken or tuna - we've since found out that chicken can be an irritant for pups with sensitive stomachs. Try scrambled eggs and pasta

Dpup is much better on his new food - no diarrhoea and seems livelier in himself. We don't give him anything else but his kibble and use it for treats too - it's hard but worth it.

Thank you.

He was on raw food before and we've changed him to kibble. I'm tempted to change it back but probably should give him a bit longer to get used to it.

He has routine appointment at the vet on Monday so might mention it.

You could try mixing a bit of his raw food in with his kibble and see how he is. It's worth mentioning it to the vet as there are so many types and brands of food that it's a minefield

Boiled chicken & rice should help, but if he stops eating or drinking or seems depressed/ lethargic then he should be seen by the vet sooner. You might be able to buy some prokolin from the vets over the counter too.

I'm presuming he is fully vaccinated? If not, vets ASAP just in case it's parvo.

Yes he's fully vaccinated. He seems to have brightened up a bit throughout the day, although hasn't eaten much.

He's drinking plenty though so hopefully he'll start to feel better tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for an uninterrupted night's sleep!
