Just wondered if anyone had taken out insurance for an older rescue and how much it cost ?

Some of the companies won't take on older dogs so you may just have to shop around.

My boy has just turned 10 - we are with Agria (and have been for several years).

Before he was 10 it was e.g.
The first £100 of every new claim + 10% of each claim (standard for most)
Now he's 10:
The first £100 of every new claim + 20% of each claim (again standard for most)

His insurance is approx £60 per month (he has an ongoing condition which requires constant medication; I'd pay about £50 per month anyway for that so I can't complain too much at the cost).

Depends on the breed too.

We do Dog's Trust membership for 3rd party liability, and save the £60/month for fees. In 14 years of rescue dog ownership, only 5 of which were below 10 years, we only have had Metacam for 2 years to pay for really (other than mundane vet usage eg teeth clean etc)
