What temperature is too cold?

We are living in a static van whilst renovating. Recent delays, mean we won't be in the main house when we collect our mini poodle pup in Nov. I'm looking at heat pads, because the floor of the van gets very cold-even with heating on. I've found minimum temps for newborn pups, but what about older ones?

I don't know about the minimum temperature but you might want to see if you can get a raised bed so the pup isn't directly on the floor. That would be a bit warmer. Or instead you could get a dog jumpers/coat which would help keep them warm

Thanks. Yes, I was wondering whether raising the crate somehow would be doable.

I can't help with temperatures but I second a raised bed and jumpers if necessary Smile

I would also invest in lots of cheap fleece blankets so the puppy has something to snuggle up in too. We had issues with our heating last winter and our beagle spent 99% of his time buried under a pile of blankets!

I don’t have any idea RE temperatures. I would hope your pup will give you an indication if they are too cold.
We lived in a static on a farm for 4 years. It’s definitely character building! The condensation on the inside of the windows froze in the winter! The only heating we had was a log burner and I used to wear a hat to bed Grin
DDog was fine on the floor with extra blankets. Although she was an adult and pretty floofy. I suspect your pup might need to get in to bed with you on particularly cold evenings.
Heat pad, equafleece and lots of snuggly blankets should do it. Hope the renovation goes well Smile

My mum has a cockapoo (mainly a poodle coat) pup and she is always warm, chooses to lie on the tile floor most of the time, I suppose if you had such a big thick fluffly coat on 24/7 you might not feel the cold just as badly. My cocker pup has one of those calming beds and seems happy in it and our kitchen can get quite cool at night! We put a wee warm hot water bottle wrapped in a blanket and it stays warm until morning and she cuddles up to it.

@Spikeyplants beware of heat pads. Puppies chew EVERYTHING!! Vet fleece is good.
