What's causing my pup to yelp as if he's in pain?

My Labrador pup 5 half months yelps and runs to me or DH as if he's in pain this happens every two or three days and it makes him stressed. He's ok after we've felt all over him for any sign of pain and fussed and stroked him.

I asked the vet to check him out at an appointment for something else and he couldn't find anything obvious. He has got a so far undescended testicle so I wonder if it could be this or cramps or old fashioned growing pains

It's a bit of a mystery what it can be and I wonder if this happens to anyone else's puppy.

Any ideas anyone?

I can't see anything that sets it off - it happened tonight as he's eating his dinner, or it can be when he's mooching around the house and garden

Hips?

PollyRoullson · 23/09/2021 20:33

Teeth?

Imdoingitnow · 23/09/2021 20:50

Thanks.
It could be his teeth as he has some better g gnashers appearing. I don't think it's his hips but I'll keep an eye out for limping etc

Our ddogs have a pool but unless I drop bits of carrot in won't get a paw wet!!

We throw his balls in and He just dips his toes into try to get the ball out

Dpup hasn't yet been in the water - proper muddy water but we're going to the seaside this weekend.... my two previous Labrador were true waterboys

Mine did this a few times as a puppy - we figured out it was teething pain. It always happened when he was eating, he'd Yelp/scream and run and hide somewhere like he was in trouble.

It was very weird but once all his teeth had come through it stopped and it's never happened since!

Imdoingitnow · 24/09/2021 08:38

@icedcoffees that sounds very much like our pup. He runs over to one of us looking like he's done something he shouldn't and lies on his back to get his belly rubbed then gradually calms down. We have some teething gel we bought off Amazon we'll use it more on him.

I worry it's something fatal

Check with the vet if you're concerned - I was really upset the first time it happened as he sounded so distressed, but it's never happened since his adult teeth came through :)
