Puppy Vaccinations

Hello!

Our new puppy was 11 weeks old when we picked him up. I booked him into the vets straight away for his vacs and the vet told me because of his age and how important it is to socialise him he would not need a booster until next year. This seems odd and I have never heard of this. Google searches also say pups need 2 vaccinations.
He had Nobivac L4 and Nobivac DHP.
Anyone else heard of this?

Did he have the first vaccinations at the breeders?

MummyJE · 13/09/2021 16:52

No, his first and only jab at 11 weeks and 3 days old

How come the breeder didn't have him vaccinated?

MummyJE · 13/09/2021 17:13

They said that vets all use different vaccinations so it was highly likely he would have to start again anyway.

Off the top of my head a single DHP can be given after 10 weeks but he'd still need a second L4 - I'd give the vet a call back to clarify.

Your puppy does need its second vaccinations to be fully covered.I would call back to clarify what the vet said. How much did they charge you?

MummyJE · 13/09/2021 20:28

We are paying a monthly health club fee. Respectable vets that have been around for years. Rang and they confirmed it is correct but just never heard of this before.

A single DHP is fine at his age but he needs a second l4 28 days after his first.
