Our house is clearly the equivalent of Heathrow for geese and BiteyDog is very angry that they are honking over our house about 5 times a day.

It's very funny to watch him get annoyed that he can't chase them Grin

We seem to be on a flight path this year. I'm sure a gaggle of about 50 went over yesterday! They were so low I made eye contact.
My dog doesn't seem bothered but I'm sure if they were on the ground it would be a different matter!

BiteyShark · 11/09/2021 08:26

They are so loud but lovely to look at. BiteyDog runs through the house into the garden to shout at them Grin

Ours got very interested in one on a lake walk recently until it hissed at her and the big eejit ran away

BiteyShark · 11/09/2021 08:37

They can be very aggressive so I hope BiteyDog doesn't ever meet one

Someone at a WWT reserve told us the reason they don't allow dogs in isn't so much that they're afraid of dogs attacking the wildfowl as of the wildfowl attacking dogs.

However, they're unlikely to break flying formation to sort out loud canines.Grin

My pup has been hissed at by geese and she runs and hides behind me the wimp lol.

Well, it obviously works, doesn’t it? Bark at them, they go away.
My Lil has the same policy with hot air balloons!

I am very glad Grin.

He did have a good bark at one in a lake years ago when he was a puppy but at that time he was too afraid to go into the water but now I think he would try and swim out to it.

Been reading about their migration and it says if one is sick or tired some members will fly down with it and stay with them until they are well enough to fly again 😊

Embarrassingly, one of mine got chased by a duck.

It was quite a big duck, but still…

Sitdowncupoftea · 11/09/2021 14:09

We get them a lot. Lately it's been through the night as Canadian geese fly at night.

SisterAgatha · 11/09/2021 14:12

I live by a huge network of lakes and geese are over my house all day long. I can’t beat them. No wonder the dog is annoyed, I’ve never met a goose that isn’t a raging arsehole.

Bebeschitt · 11/09/2021 14:18

My old dog was a bit of a twat and he once shouted at a goose. The goose was the other side of some railings. It turned around, stuck it's neck slowly through the railings and pecked him on the nose. Funniest thing I've seen. A 4 stone dog hiding behind his human looking suitably embarrassed.
The goose just got back to preening. He had seen the likes of Twat Dog before.

Loving all these other geese hating dogs Grin
