I know if is late but I'm hoping someone in the know can advise.

My dog with no known allergies came up in hives tonight

Spoke to the emergency vets who said as his fave wasn't swollen etc to give him 5/10mls of piriton
He weighs 20kg

Added a photo of what they look like as vet didn't see him just listened to my description.
He is also very itchy
We have no idea what's caused it

I've given him 5mls and he is still covered in hives.
How long does it usually take to work?

How is your dog now?

We had to go emergency vets Saturday and Monday night with acute allergic reaction for our dog. They gave him anti inflammatory injections. It's happened again tonight but not as bad.

They said it could be spores or mold etc and theyve seen lots of cases recently due to the hot weather at this time of year causing the spores to be airborne etc

(Spores from the fields near our house not in our house)

He is a lot better thank you.

I took him to our regular vet on saturday and showed her the photos.
She said to give him 2 piriton tablets if it happens again and she will prescribe steroids to keep at home as it looked so severe.
Touch wood it hasn't happened again.

How is your dog?
