Pet Insurance

Hi, the dreaded pet insurance is up for renewal and I'm just looking at comparisons for my Chihuahua.

I'm currently with Petplan but the premium has gone up to £41 a month. I'm nervous to move to another insurer as I've been burned in the past when they refused to pay out.

Can anyone give me any recommendations please?

Have you claimed before or has your chihuahua been to the vet for something out of the ordinary (even if you didn't claim)?

We use BBM who are expensive but cheaper than pet plan.
Just be aware that anything your dog has been to the vet for prior to moving insurers won't be covered. They will be considered pre existing conditions. BBM let them be included after 2 years I think but not 100% sure.

Our insurance has gone up this year. It's been quite a hike and will carry on going up year on year.

Just remember if you switch pre-existing conditions (so this includes any symptoms) will be excluded. So if there has been for example a sore eye in the last two years eye conditions will be excluded etc.

Are you on a covered for life policy or just a yearly policy and cannot claim again for any illness? If the latter then shop around but with the former I’d suck up the cost and stay put
