Season and daycare question

BeaBeaBuzz · 02/09/2021 20:09

Our one year old has just come in to season- just wondering what’s normal in terms of how long she’ll need to be away from doggy daycare?

She’s only in 2 days a week but we’ll need to make other arrangements.

Any guidance from more experienced dog owners would be great.

Thank you!

I would plan for at least 3 weeks. But it could be more or less.

It depends on the day care. Some say that they can't return until they've finished their season. So, 2-4 weeks, depending on how long it lasts. A good test is to borrow an intact male dog for a minute and see if they show an interest, once you think she's finished!

Other day cares have the ability to separate any female doggies that are in season. Although I think that's less common.

I'd make arrangements for a month, to be on the safe side.

Daycare day they can separate but I’m worried it’ll be stressful for her depending on how well it’s done and they are transported in vans together although physically separated I’m not sure I want her to go so wondered how long would be sensible. My baby!

At least 3/4 weeks.

Daycare shouldn't be taking her at all even if they can separate - it's too risky.
