How much to feed my dog

He is a crossbreed. Size of a standard Daschund. Weighs 6kg. Looks a bit skinny. He gets a half cup of kibble at breakfast and half a tray Lily’s Kitchen (or equivalent) for tea. Odd treats off and in during day.

Is this enough?? Can’t find standard guidance online.

The kibble packaging will have a feeding guideline on it.
Raw food is generally 5-6% of their weight for puppies and 2-3% for adults.

If he looks skinny up it for a while till you think he looks ok. His ribs should feel like they're covered with a blanket . Not a sheet or a duvet. Then maintain. All dogs are different. And as PP has said it tells you on the packs. Enjoy your lovely pooch!

I mostly ignore the guidance and judge it by sight. All dogs are different and it's worth remembering that pet food companies want you to use as much of their food as possible, so you buy more of it Grin

If he looks too skinny, I increase a little, and vice-versa if he looks a bit chubby. He gets weighed annually at the vets and the odd time at home and this method seems to work for us.

What he gets each day depends on how active he's been and what treats he's had as well.

Lily's Kitchen have a feeding guide, but it's not the most obvious bit of the website to find

www.lilyskitchen.co.uk/feeding-guidelines

Start with that, then see if he thrives on it. Dogs are meant to be a bitnskinny - you should be able to feel their ribs.

Also, next time at the vet, ask them if he seems the right weight
