Roxy’s bad leg. Has anyone else’s dog had this problem?

This is my 17 month old dog roxy. I posted under another name suite a while ago, I asked if anybody knew what was wrong with her leg. After been sent to a referral centre, we got the diagnosis. ‘Superficial digital flexor tendon rupture. We don’t know how it happened - as she was in the care of the dog walker at the time. ( we were moving) she had the operation last week, is sporting this lovely bandage. I was wondering if anybody else’s dog had had this injury? If so, what was the recovery like? I’d never heard of this injury before, apparently- it’s a well known horse injury?? Thanks for reading.

Many, many years ago, my staffie ruptured a ligament- I know not the same as tendon, but he did it doing a U-turn whilst running fast. It may be that your dog injured herself in a similar manner - not necessarily the dogwalker's fault. (I know you haven't suggested it was but just in case you were wondering). He had to have an op, which sorted it out successfully.

Can't remember recovery time but it was quite quick for the ligament replacement (with a strip of skin and flesh from edge of incision wound, they said - drew me a diagram), so dog was back to normal as soon as that had all healed up.
