We rescued DDog from being put to sleep (aged 1) in March. She had been treated so badly for her whole life and was a wreck- terrified of everyone, terrified of leaving the house, terrified of cars, everything. I posted about her a few times under a different name and got some fab advice.

Today she decided she wanted to go on THREE WALKS, she got further than she ever had, a good 0.5 miles each time, and more importantly she was absolutely buzzing about it. DP said she was so excited to be out, couldn't stop smelling everything, just so overwhelmingly excited. Every time they got home, she would want to go out again, so DP just kept going until she was finished. A car even passed and someone got out, and she didn't even whine!

I am SO proud of her. She has been through some awful, awful times, and I cannot make it more clear that she really was just a shaking bag of bones when we got her. She's now thriving, and today proves that.

We're going to try another week of this, and then hopefully see how she is getting into the car, and taking her to a very quiet spot for a dog walk elsewhere Grin

I'm just so pleased.

Lovely.

Just a thought if you have a garage you could do ‘ride car’ I used to say this to my nervous dog and he’s get in the car in the front seat and we would then drive the car in the garage and he’d get a biscuit. Then we did ride to the park. Then the woods and so on …

We don't but we live up a quiet farm track so could drive to the bottom of the track and back to see how she does first!

🥰 this is lovely. So happy for you all.

I have a rescue too who was badly treated. It’s a joy watching them realise life is actually going to be ok and people can be lovely.
