Housesitters / trusted housesitters

I need to find a house sitter for my three dogs (two large breed) and two cats. The person who used to stay when we went away is no longer available due to ill health.

I'd really rather not go down the kennel / cattery route and my pets would prefer to be in their own home.

I've been looking at Trusted Housesitters and similar websites. Does anyone have any experience of finding a house sitter this way?

Thanks so much

My concern is that they would have zero knowledge of pet care, nor would they have any insurance if one of them escaped, got sick etc.

Your best bet imo is to find a dog walker who also does pet sitting.

I have used it about 5 times with great success.

It takes some organising once you've chosen a sitter, or it does for me. As soon as I've chosen an applicant I take contact to WhatsApp or email. I try and stipulate that I meet them the day before I leave or on the day. I invite them to stay with me the night before or offer to put them up nearby.

The sitters I've used have all been experienced sitters. THS is well vetted and I trust it.

Any other questions, let me know.
