Moving house - super needy cocker spaniel

Our 10 year old cocker became very needy when the removal boxes arrived and still is unsettled (despite being in a house he knows very well!) We move into our new house on Wednesday. Any top tips to make it easier for him? I have spent so much time planning for DH, DC that I didn't think about the effect on the dog!

As far as possible:

  • get his bed/stuff in place asap, hopefully you won't have washed any of it so that it still smells of him
  • get his old routine back in place; even if you hope to change it in the new house, do that later when he's more settled. In the meantime, routine is very important for nervous dogs - it helps if they can rely on knowing what's going to happen at what time.
  • try and remain calm and chilled out yourselves

MAny thx for your response - he seems to have calmed down and loving the new gardens so fingers crossed!
