Net over dogs head- whats it for?

I was driving today, when I passed a woman walking 2 chihuahuas. Both dogs had a net bag over their entire heads and tied at the neck. I'm in the Sth East, in a village with access to open fields. Is there a bug or grass seed it protects from? I've never seen it before and just curious. Any ideas?
@brittleheadgirl A woman who lived in my road had a chihauhau that she carried around in her handbag. I felt sorry for the poor little thing because it had to stand up with its head poking through the small bit of the bag that she left unzipped - no chance to turn round, stretch its legs etc. I bet it would have loved to have a run through some long grass.
And your point is?

Your example is 1 person.
Look up how many people have chihuahuas, makes your point irrelevant and just fuels the flames of anyone who has a ridiculous misconception about owning a small breed.

I have a chihuahua cross. Although he would probably struggle with really long grass, he does love to zoom through fields. He has so much energy. He's actually an actual dog, barks and everything. I can also confirm that he has never been inside a handbag.

Never heard of this but I can see the appeal

I have two chi’s. They are never carried whilst on a walk unless one is injured

One can go off lead, the other can’t but it doesn’t stop the one on lead running through grass which she does with joy

@rantymcrantface66 @icedcoffees I agree, but I am biased Grin He had tiny floppy ears when we got him as a pup. Not sure what happened tbh lol

gogohm · 03/08/2021 16:29

@brittleheadgirl there was a woman being told off by security in Waitrose today for bringing her dog in her handbag into the store.

Bless him, he's gorgeous!

I have a beagle so he has epicly floppy, velvet ears :)

rantymcrantface66 · 03/08/2021 16:47

@welshdaisy my Jack Russell sometimes has 2 floppy ears and other times, like now where she is pretending to be asleep because she doesn't want me to take her out as it's raining but she's paying attention to what's going on, she has one up ear and one floppy 😆
