Tell me your experiences of a second dog. Not something I'm planning anytime soon and appreciate it needs to have a lot of thought, but would eventually like to add another puppy to the house. We already have one dog and was wondering if anyone could offer insight? Good or bad experiences welcome Smile

Hello! We are 4 weeks in to having two, so I'm not mega experienced, but I thought I'd share my views so far. H is 16 months old and B is 12 weeks now. It has been so much better than we could have imagined! H has adapted so well and seems so happy to have a playmate. B is just a happy mad little thing and she worships H, follows him absolutely everywhere. They play endlessly and then fall asleep next to each other.

We have usually introduced our dogs to new puppies on neutral ground.

Dog A was a terrier who wasn't interested in other dogs. She disciplined Dog B when he was a puppy, and sometimes played with him, but largely ignored him.
Dog B wasn't all that interested in Dog C - they played a bit, and sometimes slept together, and were partners in crime when out on walks.
Dog C and Dog D adore each other. Even when they are sunbathing, they are usually within in inches of each other. If Dog D gets left behind when we're walking, Dog C won't rest until the pack is back together.
