A bed, bowls, kitchen roll to clean up accidents. Its difficult to offer advice without pictures šŸ˜ a collar and a soft "house lead" that will get him used it. They don't have handles so can just be left on when they pottering about.

Toys that arent too harsh for teeth, puppies need to chew. Avoid cheapo b&m type stuff as they can break and lead to danger of ingestion.

Insurance!

Aside from the essentials I would also make sure you have
An enzyme cleaner for accidents
Some way to transport pup safely if you have a car
Poo bag dispenser that you attach to lead

DinosaurDiana · 28/07/2021 07:53

I have a small dog walking handbag to carry keys, poo bags and phone.
One with a long strap to go over one shoulder.
Puppy toys.
Bed.
Bowls.
Puppy collar/lead. No point buying a harness yet.
Do you know which food pup will be on, and why you want to continue to feed it ?

Outside of the obvious, a good quality chew toy, pee/pop cleaner spray, something they can go potty on indoors when you are not there to supervise.

Definitely start training and socialising the dog from the moment they get home. If they are open book the pup into a local dog training class.

Sorry, pic! Haha we have to choose her in 4 weeks :)

She will be on Markus Muhle and it seems really good so going to keep her on that :)

Thank you all!

Gin
Crocs (you need to be able to stuff your feet in and out a squillion times a day, so a size or two up are best)
A warm dressing gown with a hood
Beanie hat with built in LED torch (you'll thank me at 2am in the rain)
Quality kitchen roll (Regina Blitz is best imo)
Pet accident spray (turquoise bottle)
If you have hard floors, a microfibre mop and many spare heads
Quality poo bags
Many many chewy toys
Quality dog treats - I like dehydrated pure meat or fish ones for puppies as they give them nutrition and can be broken into tiny bits that are still high value. I buy from Treats2sit4
Vet bed or fleece blankets to go in their crate as they wash and dry so easily, but get several
Bio washing powder to wash said blankets

Gin and lots of it. Mixer is optional.

welshdaisy · 28/07/2021 12:15

Gin and carpet cleaner

Good insurance (unless you have several thousand£ in readily accessible savings that you don't mind spending on the dog)

Puppy classes (ideally ones which a behaviourist who will be training the owners as much as the puppies) and a good doggy reference book - maybe Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy

wetotter · 28/07/2021 14:20

Oh, and choose which vet you like the look of, so you can register your puppy there as soon as it arrives
