Hernia

My frien has recently bought a puppy King Charles. She took him for his Jabs today and found out he has a hernia. Do you think the breeder knew? He is 10 weeks old. Could she go back to the breeder and ask for money back?

She bought a puppy that wasn't vet checked or vaccinated? The breeder doesn't give a damn. Good luck with contacting them now.

The hernia can be fixed when the pup is neutered.

What does her contract with the breeder say? Most have a window to allow for health checks and returns/discussion if something is found to be wrong.

The puppy was checked and vaccinated but the vet didn't pick it up.

Many reputable breeders don't vaccinate puppies before they leave (esp if they go at 8 weeks) as different vets use different vaccines and not all are compatible.

As for the hernia, it should have been spotted but a small one can be easy to miss. A small umbilical hernia is rarely a problem - one of my dogs had one and when it was corrected it was found to contain nothing but fatty tissue.
