Hi,
After some advice please!!! I have a 2 year old dog who is amazing, having finally ditched her annoying puppy ways. She sleeps well, walks well and is generally a great friendly dog. Would we be crazy to risk this by getting another puppy? Would she revert to her puppy ways when another puppy is introduced or would the puppy learn quicker how to behave like her? They would have the same mum if that makes any difference but this would likely be the only chance to have that connection as would be her mum’s second and last litter. Any advice gratefully received!

Our 2dog definitely learnt off the older dog. Both good and bad things so keep that in mind. Make sure older dog is trained how you want them to be.
I loved having two but it did change the dynamic quite a lot. We currently only have 1 dog.
I would get another dog in a heart beat but daycare costs for 2 are quite expensive. Plus you need to factor in if someone would take both dogs in an emergency. MIL takes ours just now but doubt she would look after 2.

We're 3 weeks in and it's been a great experience! H and B have really bonded, they hate to be apart and play non stop before flopping and crashing. Usually on top of one another.

We are 1 week in. Our 3 year old never was a big dog loving dog. Only now is he starting to accept her (in that he isn't ignoring her or refusing to enter rooms when she's in them). But I think the heat has had a lot to do with his lack of enthusiasm to start with.

Today they have played for a good hour all together (on three separate occasions). The puppy loves him. She wags her tail so much when she sees him. It's very cute.

I'm knackered with the puppy sleep. But hoping it will not be too tricky from now on.

I will say - it's expensive so far. Double food, insurance, vets etc. I know that's obvious but it's quite a lot!

Forgot to say - we've had to be very careful to supervise all meetings because I wanted them to get on well. So she has a play pen and a crate and we make sure the oldest gets lots of attention without her as well as with her.

Thank you for your replies - there is a lot to think about! I’m just so anxious that we might mess up what we have but potentially it could be amazing…. She is great with other dogs in parks but whether it would be different on her territory I’m not sure.
