She's licking her lips a lot. she's drinking normally, wee-ed and poo-ed. She's somewhere cool.

She doesn't seem quite right.

Is it just a prelude to throwing up or ? Any experience.

My dog is a very quiet one and this is the only sign she's in pain. She never even yelps just quietly licks her lips

Have you checked in her mouth?

Happenchance · 16/07/2021 11:39

How long has she been doing it for? If it's only started recently, is there any evidence that she's eaten something that she shouldn't have, e.g. empty chocolate wrappers?

Lick lipping can be a sign of anxiety, stress, or also pain. You know your pup best so a little vet trip wouldn't hurt. If there is something wrong, better to catch it early than wait it out.

RunningFromInsanity · 16/07/2021 13:42

As above, can be a sign of stress or discomfort.
If it’s not too hot I would take her for a gentle walk, she may need to move/eat grass/be sick.

Lip licking could be all sorts of things - nausea, stress, discomfort or pain. I would get her seen by the vets before the weekend if you're worried.

BlijEi · 16/07/2021 14:05

Like others have said it could be anything as it's a sign of stress. Does she have any other symptoms?

BarkingUpTheWrongRoseBush · 16/07/2021 16:15

She's been to vets and they think it's a tummy upset. Given her some anti nausea and said to keep an eye on her.

She's a quiet soul so I'm worried she's in pain. Thanks for the advice much appreciated.
