Red spot on dog’s lip - any ideas?

Wondering if anyone has seen similar on their dog and what it turned out to be? Of course I will take him to the vets if it doesn’t clear up but my first thought was a bite, I’m now not sure.

This started as a hard bump under his skin with no redness but the red spot appeared over about 3 days. It appeared very suddenly - literally popped up after we’d been to the park so I assumed a bite (hence thinking it’ll clear up by itself). He does love to stick his entire face in long grass so seemed likely. Now it’s been 3 days and the lump feels smaller but the surface of the skin has developed this red patch. He doesn’t seem in pain - isnt pawing it, doesn’t love it if I touch it but he does let me, appetite and mood all normal. Any ideas? Probably going to ring the vet tomorrow anyway.

our most recent dog had a pimple in about the same place....I bathed it for a couple of days with salt water and it seemed to be clearing so I left it alone for another couple but it started to look angry so a vet consultation, via email with pictures resulted in some antibiotics and it cleared up really quickly.

My dog used to get these. They are just like pimples the vet told me

Thanks that’s reassuring. I was starting to panic as he’s prone to (expensive) health issues!

I have a bulldog that is also prone to expensive health issues! He had something like this on his lip and it was harmless and went away on its own. However, we did get it checked by a vet just in case as it did start bleeding.

Our similar breed dog developed one of these a couple of weeks ago. Took her to the vet and had it aspirated- it’s benign and should resolve itself within 8 weeks, if not they want to do a biopsy. So if it hasn’t gone away in 8 weeks or gets hugely bigger- take her to the vet.

The vets call it his local because we’re always bloody there 🤣 yes I’ll keep an eye on it and take him back if it doesn’t seem to be healing.
