Whining Puppy

Please can we have some advice on our whining 10 month old puppy? Even when he's fed, water bowl filled up, been for a long walk or played in the garden, been toileted, he still whines.

The vets don't seem concerned as he's gaining good weight and eating well etc.

He has Kongs and plenty of toys that he plays with.

Any ideas on how we could stop this?

My dog will sometimes whine if he wants our attention or if he needs something. Is yours whining when you are doing something that doesn’t involve him? I’m working from home and mine will sometimes whine when I’m on the phone as he wants attention and isn’t getting it. I was also going to suggest your puppy may be in pain but you’ve already had him checked by the vet Smile

What type of dog is it? How do you react when he whines?

Maybe he wants a cuddle?

Mine whines if she's cold or wants a blanket 🙄

Mine whines when he wants a tummy rub or attention. Most of the time it’s for a cuddle. He’s a pain for it

Mine used to whine for attention Hmm

I ignored him and he doesn't do it anymore unless I've shut him out of the kitchen when the cats are eating Wink

Unfortunately if your dog whines and you pay them attention (cuddle, belly rub, treat etc) they learn that if they want those things, they have to whine!
