Poorly WCS - how long does it take them to recover?

our WCS is nearly 1 and up to this point has been basically bomb proof! He shoots through fields, digs into everything and is a very happy chap.

but suddenly on Saturday, he started to get quite poorly - blood and discharge from his nose, breathing quickly. The vet thought something might be stuck up there so they operated yesterday - there was nothing in there but she suspects something was there at some point that has given him an infection. He has very thick green mucus and can't really breathe through his nose. He's on antibiotics and anti inflammatories.

Do you know how long it takes for the antibiotics to kick in? She thought he would be better by Thursday but wondered what others experience was - he's back at the vet's on Saturday for a check up. We hate seeing him unwell! He's eating and drinking as normal but we're not used to him not having that 100mph whirlwind energy that cockers normally have! We're keeping him calm and cool indoors and he's allowed out for a short on lead walk tonight for the first time since he got unwell.

(I would have asked the vet more but I was so relieved to have him back and he was busy jumping into my arms while she was talking to me!)

Hmmm... it really depends what is causing it.

He found have something lodged in his sinuses, or even a fungal infection (did they take a culture)
Is he insured?
If he doesn't respond to the antibiotics then he may need his sinuses/nose flushing out or ideally referral for a scan to check nothing is stuck deep

Yes he's insured. They flushed his sinuses out when they looked in them but the mucus is picking up quickly again. I will check if they took a culture thanks, that's a good point.

My friends dog had similar when she had Covid.

Recovered but took a while.

I’d be seeing if they can see him before Saturday if he’s not improved that much .

thanks - he's better in himself I think but still not ready for a long walk and still pawing at his nose/green snot so will call them today
