Cooling mats

Any recommendations for these? And do they tend to last very long?

we have these which are great. He's never chewed them though.

We got a cheap one from B&M two years ago.

It's never been chewed but it's also never been used by the dog I use it instead on hot nights to help me sleep, lol.

Our dog sits next to hers! She won't entertain the idea of sitting/laying on it.

We have one. I end up sliding her head under it when she has nodded off.
It's lovely under hot feet when working from home though!

Couldn’t ever get ours to lay on them. Found a cold damp towel and a well positioned tower fan far better tbh.

Ooh I'd like to add that I bought one for my old cat (now deceased) from B&m £10, I now use it at night for my menapausal night sweats, works a treat

Yep had the b and m ones for my elderly dogs plus a floor fan. They loved it.
Cats not impressed. So I use it under my bare feet - bliss!

We got ours from ALDI. Our 8 month old puppy lies on it all the time. We bought a second one for upstairs, and he sleeps on it rather than his basket. As long as your dog isn’t a chewer, I’d thoroughly recommend them

Dog steadfastly ignoring hers at the moment (although that is often the case with new stuff as think it smells different for her).

I bought one from Pets at Home this morning for our Goldendoodle pup. She's on it now.

Does anyone have a cool mat that isn’t slippy? My boy loves his gel mat, but he can’t use it anymore as he has spinal issues, so he slips on shiny surfaces.

I’ve seen couple of soft ones on Amazon, but the reviews don’t seem great.

You could try applying some slip stop - it’s designed for use on socks.

I found my dogs cooling mat this morning. He’s been lying on it for 3 hours so far. He wouldn’t look at it last year 🤨

We have CAM slip tape and rugs where we have hard floors, but slip tape is rough and not comfy to lie on.

His bed has a warm side and a cool side and is in a north facing room, so he’s not too bad, but he looked so upset when he couldn’t lie down on his cooling mat yesterday and me trying to help just confused him. Thankfully he lay upright next to it in the end and I was able to encourage him to flop onto it sideways, but I’d like him to be able to make the choice to go on it whenever he wants to.

I bought one from Amazon, looked great. Pup has somehow managed to pierce it and I found loads of little gel balls everywhere . Will have to go back

We have a few around the house for our dog. He took a while to come around to them but he does use them now. I currently have them cooling in the freezer for him as his breed really suffers in these temperatures.

What about a coat instead.

Unfortunately he’s not keen on coats. I have one of those cooling towels round his neck at the moment, which he seems to like though.

Having said that, he has learned to accept a coat for winter since he became arthritic, so I might look at some and see. Thank you for the suggestion.

We got this one from Amaazon today here. I was ready to send it back as it is so thin and flimsy, but actually we put it on as our dog was breathing fast and panting tonight and it's really worked. Because it's so thin it's probably comfier.
